What's been the scoop on Kyle? All I've seen is the twitter post about personal reasons and then twitter threatening bans for anyone posting anymore about what happened. Don't really need the gossip, more that he and his wife are both alive and well. Also interested/concerned. I did some digging on Reddit and it looks like it's tied to some skeletons in the closet trying to come out. Don't want to speculate more than that in a public forum, but if anyone's interested I'm happy to point to certain Reddit posts in a PM. Please pm. Sent from my 5054N using proboards

There's no denying that the show's sharp edges have been slowly and steadily dulled over the years, whatever the reason. $ for commercials. That's not a criticism. It's the nature of the business. They, Clownsquare and their syndication company are in the business to make money. No one can fault anyone for making decisions that affect their personal bottom line. I shop at Walmart for this very reason. Sorry mom and pop stores, I have a bottom line at home. Sorry you can't take your kids to Disney because people like me shop at Walmart. I'd like to take my kids to Disney too and I'm not going to sacrifice that so you can. /soapbox This same idea is what brought me to my comments above. FB, HW, PJ, PS all want to make money as well. If management is saying "we're losing this advertiser because of Zane" or whatever (even if not entirely true) they're going to have to let him go when he gets himself in trouble. Again, to me, it appeared that the remaining FBHW show was able to adapt to the new world of Townsquare inthepoopshoot but Zane was just too rebellious to make the transition. So he buried himself with management, and the boys sorta let him do it to protect themselves. Again, all my own thoughts and conclusions.

I had a chance to listen to about 45 minutes this morning and he is definitely gun shy. I'm hoping he settles in soon so that the "Eric Zane Apology Tour" can end. I don't like hearing him like this. I get why he is this way but I hope it ends soon.
Weiner Two brings nothing to the show. He's like the cartoon sidekick worshiping at Eric's feet. "You and me are pals, right Spike?".

To me the show has been transitioning to morning zoo and tunes for quite some time. What got me hooked on the show 12 years ago was it's edginess, their willingness to push the line and get in a little bit of trouble for a smart laugh, and how it felt like 3 guys who were all buddies just sitting around and bullshitting. It felt like someone had a radio show like my friends and I would have. It's not like that anymore, and the change has happened very slowly. I think that Zane's continual trouble is because he's having a hard time changing. He's always (to me) been the first to make fun of the morning zoo crews and crappy other station shows so maybe he despises it more and is rebelling, or maybe his personality just can't make the switch. Either way, they stuck up for him in 2014, and probably other times we don't know about, but they probably saw the writing on the wall this time. "Zane isn't making the transition, if this is going to work, he's going to be the hold back" For them, to continue to more marketable, he needed to go IMO, and he got himself let go. Hence the reply from Freebeer saying he'd have to think about if he wanted Zane back. He probably really did have to think about it, does he better his situation, and the situation of 3/4 of his close friends so that they can all provide for their families and sell out 1 of them, or does he honor the 1 and take a chance at losing out on all of it. I feel for them, all of them. I believe they are/were friends, and I believe they were like brothers. But there is a reason family businesses fall apart, and co-workers can't be friends. It's hard to draw the line where everything separates. Not sure if this is totally accurate but it is certainly plausible. There's no denying that the show's sharp edges have been slowly and steadily dulled over the years, whatever the reason.

I don't think they can unring that bell. Any reply from FBHW is going to be met with skepticism at this point and be seen as petty. That might not be fair but that's what will happen. I don't know if they've changed their opinion on a switch to satellite radio but I don't know if even a switch to that medium when their contract is up could heal this wound. I'd also imagine that there are some very angry people in the background who will not sleep well tonight. I don't have a dog in this fight but I will say that Eric's history of honesty leads me to believe that there is a whole lot of truth being shared and Hot Wings desire to keep him muzzled says a lot. They will address it on the air tomorrow. You should watch today's Segment 17. Hot Wings addresses that point fairly convincingly. They dig into it a lot more than they had planned to because the feedback they're getting has them really riled up. But they had not heard Zane's segment yet at that time, so they were only responding to what they imagined he said from the comments they had been hearing. In doing so, they revealed quite a bit. I don't have a dog in this fight, either. I was personally very close with all three of them 20 years ago and this whole damn thing has been ripping me up from the beginning. Shortly after it happened, I got some inside details from one of them (from that person's perspective). I haven't repeated a single word of it here, on Reddit or anywhere else, because it isn't mine to tell. If you listened to Eric's show today and watched Segment 17, you now know most of what I knew weeks ago...and then some. Here's my take: I think the thing that people are reacting to most strongly--well, that has to be Eric's revelation that he felt suicidal. Let me tell you, I nearly cried when he revealed that today. But in terms of the show, what they are reacting to most strongly is that it is now pretty clear that the other show members did NOT want him back. Many listeners are interpreting that as they "sold out their brother" or "they threw their friend under the bus to protect their jobs." But think about that for a minute: these guys aren't stupid. They know Eric is right when he talks about the show they had built over 15 years, they know he was a major part of it and they knew their brand would take a huge hit by letting him go. Over pissing off one local advertiser? Not likely. So what must have happened over time to get to this point? Those details I do not know, but the clues are there: today, Eric said that Free Beer told him that there had been a dark cloud hanging over their studio for a long time, and FB admitted that he himself was partly to blame for that. That tells me that the atmosphere between show members was not good. Did you notice how quickly The Bald Truth, which was intended to be a regular thing among show members, went to being just for interview guests and live show audience members? I think they only did it twice in the studio. The second time, Free Beer drew the question: "Have you ever considered leaving the show?" His answer, to paraphrase because I don't remember the exact wording, was yes. It was a couple years ago and he wasn't happy with things that were happening. I don't think they ever played that game again with show members after that. Was that answer related to this situation? I don't know, but it exposed cracks in the foundation. Point being: again, there is still probably much more to the story than we are hearing from either side. I'm not willing to lay blame on either side, but this band didn't break up over any one thing, it seems. Final point: I don't think anyone involved is lying. I think we are hearing more from Zane, because he is free to speak, from his perspective. We are hearing far less from FB&HW, because they are less free to speak and genuinely don't wish to say bad things about Eric. But what we have heard from them is honest, from their perspective. There are always three sides to every story, or maybe four: the third side is the information that has gone unspoken, and the fourth side is the truth, which contains elements of the other three sides. Two people can be standing only a few feet apart and have completely different views of objects because of the angles from which they are looking. That's all this is.
