Just got a voive mail that I am being offered the job. I still need to call about the details though. Looks like I will be starting a new job in a couple of weeks!
Best part will be putting in my 2 weeks here. Too bad I can't tell them what I really think about them!!

Does anyony have any idea how difficult it is to be motivated to do decent work for a company that has done nothing (excluding the single 2% ... yes 2%, not the standard 3%....cost of living raise) for you for 3 - 1/2 years, when you know you're putting in your 2 week notice on Monday?

Try working for a company that lowballs their internal people being promoted and not even paying them what they would hire off the street, then after putting blood, sweat, tears, and most of your life into doing your job well for 3 years, get screwed out of a promotion. Then 6 months later the company announces they are going out of business, but want you to stay on during the liquidation process for 3 months. Yeah... I'm not bitter at all. Thankfully, that was my previous job and I am very happy with my current job. |

In keeping with the recent job theme, I also will be starting a new job in two weeks.
Staying with the same parent company but have been hired in out of the temp pool. It'll be a pretty decent step up in pay, I'll finally start getting benefits, and will finally be doing work that makes me feel like my degree is being put to use.
Two week notice will be submitted Monday, and first day on the new job will happen at the end of the month!

Monday will be fun because only a couple people in my area know of the news-- most everybody had already left for the day when I found out. About the only person that does know is my director-- he was real happy for me and remarked that we'd wait until Monday to make an official announcement, "Don't want to ruin too many weekends," was his comment.

While we're on the subject, I know of someone else who'll be getting a new job--at least I hope she will, cause I got her fired from her current one this week.  I can't go into details because of the non-disclosure agreement I have where I work, but I didn't mean to get her fired. She was probably on her way out, anyway, because she wasn't particularly bright and had several strikes against her. I gave her plenty of chances to save herself but, in the end, I was forced to report the situation. Next day, poof! No more her. I didn't know that would happen, but I wouldn't change what I did. That's my job, but I still feel bad. That part of my job sucks. |

Thats a shitty situation. I was in the same place last year when something was brought to my attention and it was a situation that needed immediate attention of a higher up.
Unfortunately, it then became my job to research what happened and then determined that it was a simple mistake by an associate. That mistake cost that person their job.
