ca.news.yahoo.com/lawmakers-introduce-bill-legalize-marijuana-225335489.html"A group of US representatives plan to introduce legislation that will legalize marijuana and allow states to legislate its use, pro-marijuana groups said Wednesday. The legislation would limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, and allow people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal. The bill, which is expected to be introduced on Thursday by Republican Representative Ron Paul and Democratic Representative Barney Frank, would be the first ever legislation designed to end the federal ban on marijuana."

You should add a poll to this and I will send out a blast e-mail. Pot legalization brings out opinions!

Not a pot smoker myself but this is something I can get behind. If we are to truly be the "Land of the Free" we need to start handing out more freedoms. This would be a step in the right direction.

This would be a federal bill, which if it passes, then leaves it up to the States to make their own rules and punishments. It could go the route of alcohol and you would have dry, damp and open counties. to me, the criminalization of pot was no different than prohibition. A bunch of prudes got together and decided to make a law (despite the general populus). If they regulate and tax it like they do cigarettes, make a legal pot smoking age (probably 21) then I think its a reasonable endeavor. if its left up to each state and say... Michigan really wants a lot of pot smokers and pot revenue, then they could have really lax laws, then if Indiana wanted to be a stick in the mud, then they could have tight laws, high taxes or heavy punishments.
This is a great example on how our government should work (but hasn't for a long time). Laws are not supposed to be made on a federal level. Laws are State. the Fed is supposed to make sure states keep everything Kosher according to our Constitution. Period.
I would hope that States that decriminalize pot do treat it like alcohol though, DUI, no pot smoking on the job, no underage pot smoking, etc. Have little pot bars, like in Amsterdam. Joe and Steve should let us know about that when they come back from Spain.

Honestly, no. Keep pot illegal. If those lazy bastards could legally smoke pot there would be a new epidemic of fat asses stealing Cheetos and twinkies. Zane would lose his voice trying to spend all day tough talking the general pot smoking populace into P90X.

I'm all for it being legal...just think of all the wasted time and money we have every year on pot busts and trials...for something that compared to ALL the other scheduled drugs is really harmless. I wouldn't smoke it myself, but I say stop wasting time and energy on the small guy and start concentrating on the really bad stuff even more.
Plus this would really help with overcrowding at a lot of jails and even some prisons.

No. Leave it illegal. Here's why: Everything I like is already on the bad list. It's either banned, soon-to-be-banned, heavily taxed (or soon to be), or publicly taboo. This includes: -Tobacco -Tasty food -Booze in the office -Sexual harassment -Online poker -Lightbulbs So screw you all. I vote to ban, or continue to ban, everything that I don't care about but someone else does. If you're going to ruin my fun, I'm going to ruin yours. Other things that should be (or stay) banned, besides pot: -Gay marriage -Stem cell research -Abortion -Riding a motorcycle without a helmet -Nudity on TV -"Hangover" sequels In the next election, I'm going to begin a new practice I call "vengeance voting." I'll vote for the politician who wants to ban the most things that I don't give a crap about but would basically be in favor of if I wasn't pissed off.

Legalize it! It's a God given gift from the Earth and 100% natural! What else needs to be said? I've been doing it for almost 40 years and there isn't an ounce of fat on me and I don't really care for cheetos. lol I work hard and run a business 6 days a week! You can do it and be a living productive part in society!
