Russ Hines, former GM at Citadel and Cumulus was right in the middle of negotiating the truce between the FBHW show and Bill Simonson. Eric Zane was at the forefront of this fight and he even admits that it got really dirty. There were rumors of lawsuits which doesn't surprise me given that Bill Simonson threatens people with lawsuits and contacting their employers.
Fast forward to Russ Hines being hired at Town Square. He carries over his dislike of the FBHW show and especially EZ. As it is with something as large as the FBHW show, Hines knows he has to play chess and start documenting EZ's sins. When he thinks he finally has enough documentation, he exacts his revenge and fires Eric. Payback for his buddy Bill.
Now all of a sudden Bill Simonson and Eric Zane have buried the hatchet? Of course! Bill got what he wanted and he wants to hear Eric talk about how much it hurt. Bill loves to see anyone who disagrees with him fired. It's what he does. He is a piece of shit. Nothing more.
If you think that Bill Simonson's fingerprints aren't all over this then you're incredibly naive (nave).

I think the flaw in that theory is in the same video that Zane reveals that he and Simonson have mended fences, he says that Simonson has invited Zane to come over and sit in on his show. He did not say whether he plans to accept the invitation.
Why would Russ Hines orchestrate this as revenge for the pissing match and then let Simonson extend that invitation? I'm pretty sure he's not going to drive his hot talent to a competitor's airwaves over something so petty.
