It's a damn shame the decision was made to bring it down. The history in that place is almost tangible. People will go nuts when the same thing happens to Yankee Stadium, yet Tiger Stadium is barely acknowledged. Sad.
Crazy how the Roman Colloseum still stands, yet a stadium about 1800 years younger has to get torn down. Good thing there was no such thing as parking lots in the 100's.
To me, tearing down Tiger Stadium is akin to the French tearing down the Louvre. It's a living museum.......now, dying.

I saw Sweet Lou, Tram, and Gibby play Yaz and Jim Rice back in '83. Pretty special.

Tiger stadium is where I found out what a homeless person was and also to cross the street when you see a panhandler approaching. Those are memories I will never forget.

I loved going to Old Tiger stadium, the smell of hotdogs and sausage burning in the concorse..the damp smell of the bathrooms
The pigeons in the rafters pooping on you as your about to drink your beer and hearing Ernie Harwell announce games in his radio booth
I miss the park!!

I will never forget the sight of walking into the ballpark and seeing the field for the first time. June 8, 1996. The same day my adopted sister was born.
Never did I think that seeing the old girl being torn down would make me sad, but it does. Boy am I glad that my wife got me a pair of seats as a wedding gift!

I was at the last game. My memories are still in my head. While I wish they could have turned it into a baseball museum with tours of the locker rooms etc., I'll never forget the dozens of games I attended.

the true shame is that apparently, while many people have sentimental memories of Michigan and Trumbull, none of them give enough of a rats ass about it to take the time to sign a petition to make it a historical landmark and get it upkept and maintained again. noooo, let's tear it down and put up a parking lot. fuck detroit, and fuck city planning.
