I think, while it will drive the value if PM down, trade in physical gold may go up. At least until the government decides ut needs it a la depression style.

The only ones that aren't are at casinos and state regulated ones approved as fundraising events.

Rebel, if you really want to get technical, every single poker game played at someone's house is illegal as well if there is money involved. The only ones that aren't are at casinos and state regulated ones approved as fundraising events. Not true. Per Michigan's Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended 2008, Section 432.202 (Definitions): “'Gambling game'” means any game played with cards, dice...or any other game or device approved by the board, but does not include games played with cards in private homes or residences in which no person makes money for operating the game, except as a player." If the host doesn't take a rake, it's perfectly legal.

Are you suggesting I start a revolution over poker? As tempting as that idea is, I prefer nonviolent civil disobedience.

I just heard the part of Friday's podcast that this relates to. Yeah, the dude was an idiot. I LOVE seeing posts on this board and then finding out what they mean a few days later. It's like digging through a cereal box to get the prize!

I'm thinking she was suggesting that it is Sunshyne in that picture so watch out on the guns thing! Also, just to help you out, Full Tilt was just shut down from all real money gambling by the gaming commission that held their license. sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker/news/story?id=6717186

Oh, boy, that's huge news. Poker Stars cashed out its US players weeks ago, but Full Tilt players in the US have not yet seen a dime. There has been speculation that Full Tilt did not keep its operating funds separate from its player accounts, which would be a big violation of acceptable practices. If true, then it would explain why Full Tilt hasn't cashed out any US players. The Justice Department agreed to unfreeze accounts that held player funds, but Full Tilt apparently can't prove which accounts those were. I had accounts on both, but no money on Poker Stars and only $28 on Full Tilt. Some people had six- and seven-figure balances. Some people who make their living playing online poker, as I had hoped eventually to do, have moved out of the U.S. to continue playing.
