I'm very surprised she was found not guilty. However I also think it is completely the prosecutions fault on this one, half their theories and "experts" were ridiculous and they really didn't build a strong enough case solely based on the evidence they presented because most of it was pretty circumstantial.
I do think she did it, and I would have voted guilty 1000 times over, but the prosecutor dropped the ball big time.

I thought the prosecution had a pretty good closing argument. Very plausible. Good closing argument, but no real hard evidence to back it up unfortunately. If the jury could ignore that beyond a shadow of a doubt issue I don't think it would have even been a question that she was guilty. |

I haven't followed the case. I only know that my wife is extremely angry with that woman and I haven't told her yet that she was found not guilty. She'll not be happy at all.

I'll bring you up to speed with what I know about the case: 1) Many people think she killed her daughter 2) She seems to be a nutjob 3) She's kinda hot, in a white trash nutjob kind of way 4) The American public has chosen sides without really knowing the details of the case. It's another case of rooting for your team, but there is no ball or puck anywhere to be found. There. Now you know as much as I do. And, quite possibly, all you need to. |

The prosecution fucked this up bad, they easily had enough to convict her of 3rd degree murder/negligent homicide. But there was nowhere near the evidence needed for 1st degree murder/manslaughter. In my opinion at least then she would have done time. |

Just saw they gave her another year in prison. I think this is good for no other reason than at least she can't immediately capitalize off of all the media attention, which really would have been sickening.

The more I listen to this trial (on youtube), the more things don't add up. I'm not sure I would have been able to come to any other summation of the facts than the jury did. I'm not finished by any means, but will report back if something just hits me hard.

The sentencing was a complex formula that takes into account time served and good behavior and avoids any "wrongful imprisonment" issues. She was sentenced to just exactly enough time that she'll go free almost immediately--as early as July 13. |
