Who ever wrote in and said that Mr. Beer is to home brewing as the Chia Pet is to Home Gardening pretty much nailed it.
Mr Beer can produce a drinkable beer. Not typically a very good one though. They have a very high probability of failure when people just jump into it and don't do the proper and very thorough sanitation or if they store it in temps that are too high or that vary a lot. I'll stop here before I completely geek out and write a few pages on the effects of temps on fermentation.
I was feeding my son this morning when the segment aired other wise I would have loved to have called in.
Biff, you have a more direct line to Steev then I would. I'm brewing a Porter right now and will be brewing a simple Pale Ale in the next few days. You should email him and we can have a tasting say in mid January after things slow down from the holidays and all. They could do a tasting comparison between a Mr. Beer and a standard home brew.

I missed what ever lead into Steev getting the Mr. Beer being sent to him.
Why did someone send that in?

New brewery opens up in my neck of the woods within a week or two. Pretty excited to be able to visit the taproom.

Guy was a homebrewer and out of work so he decided to open up his own brewery. Let me know when you plan on going and I'll meet ya there for a couple. I'd be more than happy to support his American Dream.

He's mentioned a few of the brews he plans to make, and seems like it could be a strong lineup. I do see a potential battle with the furniture store across the street, because he'll have very limited on-site parking, and I'm sure people will flock across the street to the furniture store's lot. Don't think he'll have a kitchen in the place, but I believe he will let people bring in food. There's a nice local pizza place nearby that sells by-the-slice, so that could be a good combo-- go grab a couple slices and bring it over to the taproom.

Dude!! I'm gonna try that this weekend!! Oh, wait, or maybe tomorrow night. I'm going to see Hall & Oates in concert!! Unfotunately, Founders doesn't distribute to Tennessee. You'll have to go to North Carolina or Kentucky to get it! And due to it's extreme popularity and limited release, you'll have to battle many others to get it. People wait inline for hours just to get it!

White Flame won't be opening this week as initially planned. Guy put a quick blurb on the brewery's Facebook page that he's going to have to delay.
Speaking of his FB page, there are some very "interesting" people that post quite regularly on it.

What do you mean by "interesting"? They're way too excited for the place to be opening. Not necessarily in a way that they seem like boozers that are in need of a fix, but just that it seems as if this new brewery is the biggest, most exciting thing in their lives. Best example that comes to mind is this one guy that appears to be either a current or recently-graduated GVSU student-- he comments on nearly every FB post the brewery makes. Has measured to the exact tenth of a mile how far he lives from the taproom. Asks frequently if he can come over and help with construction. This particular person also just happens to bug me because he is interested in photography (the photos I've seen on FB are nothing special), and has made a few comments trying to do a photos-for-beer trade with the owner of the place.

Dino! White Flame is finally open! Currently open Tue-Sat, 4-10'ish if you'd want to try and meet up.
Went and tired a sampler, which had a 4oz glass of each of the five styles. Thought all were pretty good, with their porter and IPA being tops.

Thought all were pretty good, with their porter and IPA being tops. I think that would be a fine idea. I know, I'm quite timely in my response. A blame my kid. Hopefully I don't catch another cold after this one. 5 is enough in a winter.
