Makes sense to me but its funny to read the opposition to the move.

I understand it. It's not a huge deal. I'll miss it because the first hour tends to be more loosey goosey. Also, it's a tad ridiculous when they run three segments' worth of repeats, the I Can't Wait To Talk About Blank segment, and then the fifth segment is yet another replay of something that happened within the last day or two. I still miss Name That Tune more than I'll ever miss the first couple of segments being changed to reruns.

As a podcaster, I feel it cheapens the VIP membership a bit, as I see the podcast as the main feature of VIP. However I won't pass judgement until I hear the reasoning behind the change, which I have not heard - anyone care to enlighten me?

Doesn't bother me at all. I'm a podcaster, and have been for a long time. It was a bit of a change at first, but it's fine because I know how to use the fast-forward button.

I listen on the podcast so it really doesn't matter to me. It might not seem like a lot, but 5 hours a day is a pretty long time for Zane to be an a-hole.

I'd like to know why they're doing it. I do think an hour of best of is a bit much, but I'm sure they have a specific reason for doing it. I actually do enjoy best of a bit, sometimes I get to hear some really old stuff that I'd completely forgotten about that is pretty hilarious. I'm never up that early, but I do listen to the podcast, so yea... if it's a segment that bores me I can easily skip it. Not a big deal really!

No big deal in my opinion. I noticed that the no-talent hack WeinerTwo decided to defend it on Facebook by getting into an argument with everyone who complained about it.
Kyle needs to realize that his radio career was over before it started and sucking up to Free Beer and Hot Wings is not going to help him when he doesn't have the skills to make it in the industry in the first place.

I'm really indifferent. As a podcaster (I'm not up that early in the morning) though, I would like it if they offered a single file download minus the best of section.

More than anything, they have to consider the potential death total of letting Steve talk to groggy motorists. No big deal in my opinion. Kyle needs to realize that his radio career was over before it started and sucking up to Free Beer and Hot Wings is not going to help him when he doesn't have the skills to make it in the industry in the first place. You mean endless asskissing does NOT overcome a complete lack of talent? Shocking.

Huh. First I'm hearing of it--behind in the podcasts, as usual. I agree it would be nice to get the podcast without the Best of segment, but it's not a big deal. As it stands now, I end up skipping several days when I get way behind, so, whatever.

As far as I'm concerned I always prefer fresh material as opposed to stuff I've already heard once or twice in the past day or week. If this is going to stay a complete best of/recap segment, at least go to the trouble of finding some material we haven't heard in quite awhile. Recently the best of filler shows have been comprised to a large degree of material taken from shows aired in the past two to three months. While still good, these segments are too fresh in the mind to be truly enjoyable, and just leave a sour taste in my mouth. If FBHW and Z want to go this route I can't stop them, but I'm not going to be happy about it. That's my thought on the subject.

I understand your point there, but my guess is that they're using very recent bits on purpose, probably taken from the 9:00 hour, which is not carried by some stations. That way, those listeners can hear what they missed.

When I do listen anymore, it is usually during this segment. I've not listened at all this week but will probably start back next week. I'm curious to hear it.
The old flashbacks are fun because I remember most of them and the idiocy of the listeners hadn't reached the proportions it's reached in the last two years. I get why they don't interact with the audience as much as they did 5 years ago because with popularity comes the idiot sector into the fold.

Poor Kyle. Poor poor Kyle and his big mouth and lack of on air presence. Poor Kyle who has no idea what voice projection is but runs a good board. Board Op for life until replaced by a computer, Poor Kyle. Poor Kyle the pussy who by his own admission erased all of his venomous critiques of the Free Beer and Hot Wings show when he was hired as an intern. Poor Kyle and his lack of balls to stand up behind his opinion. Poor poor Kyle.
Ya wanna know what? Fuck him.
Hi Steve!

Ease up on poor Kyle! He's a good dude, and good at what he does. I have no horse in this race, but if the claims are true about him picking fights with people on Facebook, I guess I can't help but think he maybe deserves some of the venom shown here. If he wants to try and make a livelihood in the media business, he's going to have to learn to ignore comments on places like Facebook, and hold back on the temptation to speak out against those speaking out against him.

That's the long and short of it. He's the typical can dish it out but can't take it guy. People wouldn't give him such a hard time if he wouldn't go around picking fights and looking to stroke his e-penis.

Steev--
Everybody else starts at 6 now (on air, anyway), but you still start at 5. They should change your title to "Eternal Holder of the Short Straw."

How many of you listened during the 5 - 6 hour? Obviously podcasters do but how much content is actually really being lost for podcasters? One segment? I ask because I don't know the answer.

When you consider that one segment is/was the flashback, which is still there, and 20 minutes are/were commercials, it's really not the big a change.
One potential drawback is that Zane felt most comfortable telling risky family stories in that hour, or at least that's the impression I got. It remains to be seen if we'll hear less of that now...but I don't think it will be a problem.

I have noticed that they've been live during the first hour this week and thought that they had already abandoned this plan. But then I realized it's probably just because Joe and Steve are at the RNC.
