My name's Sean and I'm a former Conservative. I've been clean now for 4 years, and I'm proud to say that I am now liberated.

I lean liberal on most (though not all) social stuff. Conservatives often give me an anti-science vibe. And I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough about economics to know where I stand in that arena.

Libertarians will one day free America from the oppressive liberals and neocons! I too am a libertarian because unlike many Americans, I am not afraid to live without oppression.

I'm more conservative than liberal, so I do classify myself as a Conservative. I've been registered as a Democrat, and I've been registered as a Republican.
Unfortunately, there's not really a party that I fall completely in line with.
I:
~Rarely curse ~Am pro-life ~Am a Christian ~Have no problem with gay people, they can do what they want, I just don't think they need to be "married". I'm even in favor of civil unions, just don't call it marriage. ~Am a proud supporter of the 2nd Amendment ~Am pro-military ~Support President Bush and my brothers/sisters in their current missions. ~Believe marijuana should be legalized, because prohibition has NEVER worked (not a very conservative position at all, is it?) ~Believe in a smaller government, with lower taxes for ALL Americans ~Am horrified at the thought of socialized healthcare ~Am in favor of zero tolerance when it comes to illegal immigration. If you want to come here, awesome. But do it illegally or we're kicking you out and you'll NEVER make it here again.

I'm right with you two hotzester and FUCKTARD. I think what the responses so far show is that most people don't follow part lines too strictly and there are a lot of us that just agree with personal freedom. I'm also one who would vote Libertarian if there was a chance of the candidate winning. I am so friggin scared of Obama winning this time, and the ensuing socialism, that I will have to support McCain. Personally, I think the time will come in the next 20 years that there will either be a revolution/ coup d'etat or we will see a third party come to power. After all, Thomas Jefferson did say that we should have a Revolution every 20 years.

i am mostly with you Hotzester. I do believe in abortion though. But only in the first three months. I Do not believe in the partial birth thing at all I think gay people should have rights just like man and women, but do not call it a marriage. Call it a civil union or something else, but don't call it a marriage. I hope that somewhere in the near future Bush will have been found to be a good president and that he made the right choice. I would't mind marijauna being legalized since it would help me with my pain. I would like more research done with stem cells so maybe thay could come up with a cure for my MS. I don't mind having people coming to America, but those that come should do it the right way. Follow the rules and learn to speak English. That is our language of choice. You are supposed to melt into us, not just come here and try to change us to be like you. Keep your national identity but realize that YOU came here to get away from what was there.
Sorry I guess i am rambling. I think I am pretty much a conservative.

I recently read an article in Newsweek (Liberal leaning, I know) that said with the 1 trillion dollars spent in Iraq we could have repaired every school, bridge, and road. Enough money to create universal healthcare (I know, create, NOT fund), and to start Manhattan projects on alternative energy. Certainly this should be taken with a grain of salt, but you can't say the war has justified what developments we could have made. That's not even counting the lives lost and soldiers injured.

Liberal leaning and then some. I can't think of a better way to spend a trillion dollars then to blow up countries. Universal Healthcare? Talk about boring me out of my effing mind. Lets blow some sh-t up instead. For example, I could have bought my family some healthy food for this upcoming weekend, but instead I spent my $200 of disposable income on some pretty effing sweet fireworks from Northern Indiana. I'm just like Dubya... awesome.

Embrace it, don't hide it. I used to always try to distance myself from the Dems, seeing as I don't agree with most of the Democrat politicians. It isn't worth it. I am, who I am.

Oh I'm very much a registered Republican, for the reason you stated. However, I'm a REASONABLE Republican, particularly when it comes to gay marriage. Like I said, be gay. I don't care. Just don't bitch that you can't have a marriage like I do, when you're not like I am.
Be different, that's cool. Accept it. Be proud of it.
I just have a hard time accepting someone's desires to be "treated as equals" while they're marching in a parade to remind us how fundamentally different we are.

i agree with hotzester to a point. Its almost like affirmative action. Affirmative action is racist. Correct me if i'm wrong but people want to be equal correct? So by helping them get accepted into college over students that have worked just as hard or harder in school we are making things equal? i didn't think so. A little off topic, but I think it kind of applies to the whole marriage thing. I am against it because of my religious convictions, but marriage is a sacred thing.
